Another Update...

Well, this is going to be my last post for tonight b/c I think things are going to pretty much stay the same at this point.

Overview of major historic events from tonight:

1. First ever Green Party member is voted in as an MP (oh yeah, this happened in BC - we are all part of history tonight!)
2. The Conservatives win a Majority government. (Do you remember how many seats are needed to be a majority government? This would be a nice question for the provincial this year). The NDP are the official opposition with 104 seats (this is the first time that the NDP has ever had this many MPs in Ottawa). Click the link: Conservatives a Majority, NDP Opposition
3. Liberals are not the official opposition and they are not the party in power.
4. The Bloc may not have party status after tonight due to the fact that they were only voted for in 3 ridings (at this point this could go down as ballots are still being counted).Click the link:  No Party on the Bloc
5. CBC might be in trouble for releasing results one hour earlier than elections rules allow. Click the link: Bad CBC
5b. Tweeters also release results prior to the official release time. Not sure what Elections Canada is going to do...

Update....

For the first time in Canadian history we have a Green MP going to Ottawa. Here's an article:

CTV News - Elizabeth May Elected

FYI - Surrey and Delta (the areas we live in) are still in battle! I'll try to update as the night goes on!

HOLY HISTORY IN THE MAKING....

If you are not watching the election outcome right now you need to be!!! This is history in the making. I will update as the night goes on BUT here are some MAJOR things that have already happened:
1. For the first time in Canadian history the NDP are going to be the OFFICIAL OPPOSITION
2. For the first time in Canadian history the Liberals are NOT the official opposition OR the official leaders of the country
3. The BLOC may not qualify as an official party and may lose official party status due to the loss of seats

WOW.

As of right now it seems as if we may have a CONSERVATIVE MAJORITY (that means that they hold more than 155 out of 308 seats).

Hold tight for more information!
